Menopause and Andropause
There is a lot that women and men have in common. Both can cook up a mean Thanksgiving dinner, both can do an oil change themselves on a quiet Sunday morning, and both can absolutely rock a fantasy football league. But regardless of evolving viewpoints on gender, there are a few absolutes that will likely remain unique between men and women, and that’s menopause and andropause.
If you’re a woman, at some point in your life you’re going to experience menopause. As you age, your body will produce a finite number of eggs that are stored within the ovaries. Usually, after you reach your 40s, you’ll stop egg production, and hormone production will drop quickly. During this process, you can expect to experience symptoms like: insomnia, irregular or skipped periods, aches and pains in your joints, changes in your libido, and fatigue.
If you’re a man, you’ll eventually experience andropause. For guys, hormone production gradually decreases due to age. Men will have the highest levels of testosterone in their 20s, then they can expect it to decrease by 10 percent per decade after they reach their 30s. Symptoms of low testosterone levels are: decreased libido, irritability, depression, increased body fat, and loss of muscle mass and strength.
That’s the bad news, but here’s the good news. At Yunique Medical Services we can help reverse aging, as we offer hormonal treatment methods for both men and women.
